Sunsets. They’re so beautiful, and we get to see them from the best view every night. I just had to share this one. Don’t you think it’s lovely?
We’ve had a pretty relaxed weekend, which is nice because we spent half the day on Saturday going down to the Apple store in Sindelfingen. And now all of our technological problems are fixed. Yay!
Michael had been having problems with his MacBook Air battery, and we found out it was kaputt. That’s German for broken, if you didn’t already know. And my iPhone was randomly shutting off with plenty of battery and wouldn’t come back on for half a day! That wasn’t really a very safe situation when I had to leave the house to go buy groceries as Michael would be stuck if he couldn’t reach me.
And he actually did call me to come home for the first time last week. He had been working at the table, had leaned back against his back rest, and couldn’t sit up again. Sounds simple, right? Unfortunately, it can get pretty uncomfortable if he’s stuck and can’t move himself. So I rushed home, and when I go back I went over, pushed him forward to sit up, and we both moved on with our days. At least I was already in the checkout line when he called me! Thankfully, the most minor of potential situations.
So we went to the Apple store to fix our devices’ problems. We’d actually gone on Monday when we had an appointment, but they couldn’t fix them right then as they were closing and they had to order me a replacement phone because it was a US-style not readily available in Germany. And the lovely Genius Bar guy said the cost was on them because we’d had to wait an hour past our appointment time, and we didn’t leave the store until fifteen minutes after closing time. All’s well that end’s well, and we weren’t so terribly bothered by the wait anyways. But we happily returned on Saturday, and I think we left with our new and newly fixed devices within two hours. Amazing and unexpected gifts.
Also, while we waited, we had a rematch of Chess on one of the display computers. Remember the last time? In Esslingen, in the café? No? It was a lovely wooden board. Michael womped me completely, and we didn’t even get to finish our game as the café closed. This time was almost as unfortunate, but even more disappointing for me, because we were called over to pick up the finished laptop when the game was almost over, and I actually had a possibility to win! Talk about suspense. But the game was undisturbed when we were able to return. I’m pretty proud of how much better I played this time. But then I left my King open in a stupid move, and Michael was victorious.
A wonderful new week awaits us with the dawning of Monday … besides the fact that we have no coffee beans left since we used up our last today while we wait on a delivery.
Coffee-less Monday morning. I gave Michael fair warning not to get excited about coffee in the morning.
I wish you a coffee-ful day tomorrow, if that’s your thing. If you’re not into coffee … I’m sorry, I feel for you.
Here’s a photo of my favorite mug ever, that I use every day now, literally. I even wash it in between coffee and tea so that I can use it for multiple beverages on the same day. I hope I never drop it.
With love and thankfulness from Germany,
